In May alone, 144,278 illegal immigrants were apprehended at the border. Thanks to Trump’s bold leadership, that’s about to change.
On Friday, the president announced the U.S. has reached an agreement with Mexico to stem the tide of illegal immigrants crushing the southern border.
“I’m a pleased to inform you that The United States of America has reached a signed agreement with Mexico,” he tweeted. “The Tariffs scheduled to be implemented by the U.S. on Monday, against Mexico, are hereby indefinitely suspended. Mexico, in turn, has agreed to take strong measures to greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States.”
America is fortunate to have a president that keeps trying to make good on his promises to fix the broken immigration system, which not only threatens our nation’s sovereignty, it has also claimed the lives of countless citizens needlessly at the hands of drug traffickers, drunken drivers and thugs that if properly vetted and/or deported — instead of accommodated by liberal lawmakers — would never have entered our country to begin with.
The president demonstrated again this week he’s an effective negotiator, dangling the threat of tariffs against Mexico as a tool to get our southern neighbor to deploy 6,000 troops to the southern border with Guatemala to stem the massive influx of illegal immigrants pouring into their country, en route to ours. It was something most pols on both sides of the aisle would never have had the guts to do.
Trump’s getting the job done — despite zero cooperation from the Democrats, who have obstructed every good faith effort by the administration to solve the spiraling immigration crisis.
Just last week, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported there’s been over 676,000 apprehensions so far in 2019 with officials predicting illegal immigration will reach well over 1 million migrants this year, illustrating how out of touch Democrat lawmakers have been claiming it’s a “manufactured crisis.”
Now voters see the unmistakable truth: Democrats are fighting Trump for partisan purposes while Trump is fighting for the American people.
Something voters will remember come 2020.
